Suggest Treatment For Deviated Nasal Septum

Hi, I am 18 yrs old, a boy and I have a problem since my birth in my nose, the nasal septum of my nose is a little bend towards right side and the muscles on it swelled a little bit due to which I'm suffering from allergic cold. I catch common cold very rapidly but the major problem is that I'm not able to breathe properly, I had difficulty in breathing. I used to have medical treatment for it . But it cant work for me. One of my nostril is ever close either it is right or left one. but most of the time it is the right one. Some doctors advice me that it will automatically cure at the age of 16-17 but it cant happen some miracle like that. Is there any treatment for me.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain deviated nasal septum leads to bending of the nasal septal cartilage towards one of the nostrils and it leads to congestion in that nostril due to reduced size of the passage and at times can lead to severe blockage that does not even resolve with decongestants..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Nasal Endoscopy can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
In case if the medical treatment that is given to you like anti allergics, decongestnat nasal sprays like Xylometazoline and steroid nasal sprays does not work for you, then the only treatment left is surgical correction of the nasal septum also known as Septoplasty in which the nasal septum is straightened surgically..
It will help in opening up congestion but in case if you have allergies, it will not resolve and you will have to continue taking anti allergics and steroid nasal spray for it..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
