Suggest Treatment For Diabetes And Hypertension

Hello doctor !! I am 56 yrs and have diabetes as well as hypertension since past 10 years. My total cholesterol is 123 and creatinine 0.9. Fasting sugar 126 and PP 241. Hba1c is 8.0 I am advised Istamet 50/500 twice daily for sugar control. Let us know your view, suggestions and precautions. Please reply to email :

The goals for blood sugar in a diabetic are: (1) between 70 to 130 mg/dl for fasting blood sugars or premeal

(2)greater than 180 mg/dl for 2 hours after meals.

Your fasting reading is within range but the 2 hour is above target. This may mean that you need to adjust your medication or look at the foods that you are using for your meals.
The uncontrolled 2 hours are likely the reason for the high HbA1c.
It is possible that medication may need to be increased for better control.
