Suggest Treatment For Diarrhea And Body Ache In A 56-year-old

I began last Sunday with diarrrhea, cramping, and body aches. The diarrhea was only half a day. I still have a very uneasy stomach and body aches but no fever. My energy is low. I am 56 and am in very good health. Is this a virus that will probably go away?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

After reading your condition, I suggest you take electrolytes, usually the loss of electrolytes during dehydration due to diarrhea results in fatigue and weakness so you should replenish these electrolytes by taking ORS and should take probiotic diet for good digestion. Avoid spicy and oily foods increase your fluid intake and do take multivitamins. If you are suffering from acidity, you should add an antacid to your medication before meals for at least a period of one week.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohd Awais Ilyas
