Suggest Treatment For Diarrhea And Burning Sensation In The Stomach
Hello doctor, my boyfriend has a bad upset stomach, he always go to the bathroom to poop and he has watery stool, he can feel burning sensation in his stomach like he said its like an acid or something. Everytime he wants to eat, he always go to the bathroom. After he poop, he feel the burning sensation in his stomach. What is that doctor? I m a pharmacist student so he asked me about meds, i suggest metronidazole because i suspect its amoebiasis.
Very likely he is having a viral infection called gastroenteritis. It is generally a self-limited infection and should be better within 3-7 days. He will need to take some Omeprazole to help with the burning sensation in the stomach and oral rehydration solutions to substitute water and electrolytes. If he is not better in a few days or he is any worse, or he gets blood with stools, other infections, including amebiasis (that you are worried about) may be considered.
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.
Kind regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General and Family Physician
