Suggest Treatment For Diarrhea And Vomiting

i have had IBS diarrhea symptoms since about 1990, controlled somewhat with hyocyamine. Even with that, i would have multiple bowel movements a day and loose bowels. A couple of months ago I had a severe gastro intestinal illness. Diarrhea and vomiting at the same time, completely cleaned out, couldn t eat for a few days and then slowly added in bland food, kambucha, and then added back to normal except for coffee and milk. I now have normal bowel movements once or twice a day with good fecal form. haven t had that for at least 17 years. I want to get off the medication (since it did not give me results as I am experiencing now) Was the ibs caused by some bad gut fauna all these years? Can I get off the meds and keep the improvement?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have diarrhea and vomiting which seems to be due to acute gastroenteritis and electrolyte imbalance in body. The symptoms can also occur due to food allergy like gluten allergy. You should start treatment with combination of fluroquinolones and ornidazole. Take banana on daily basis and light food. Drink plenty of fluids to rehydrate her. Visit gastroenterologist once and get it examined. You should go for blood tests as well and start treatment after proper examination. Also go for food allergy test. You should give Ibuprofen to child along with proton pump inhibitors as well. I would suggest you to take antiemetic like domperidone and ranitidine for gastritis. Avoid giving any sharp and spicy food. Take aloevera juice which is natural cure for gastric problems.
