Suggest Treatment For Diarrhea

I just came here looking for information after a bowl movement over the last few days had begun smelling just like skunk. Stool consistencies vary between diarrhea and almost a whipped cream..though solid consistency. There s been heavy gas .. but that s nothing new..always had it, though maybe not as much as the past few days. As for frequency ... I ve had multiple movements a day for many years now. I partially associated that with the level of coffee consumption. Beer likewise (first introduction of it on the day purchased) will cause an almost immediate movement (ie after a few swallows).

Hello,

A very common cause of diarrhea is food intolerance. You may need to avoid milk (you may still get cheese and yogurt), avoid alcohol and fatty or very sugarily food.
If you take any medications regularly you will need to check with your doctor if diarrhea is a potential side effect of it.

If the symptoms do not improve within 2-3 weeks of following these instructions, you will need some tests to identify the cause of diarrhea such as:
- stool test for the fat amount
- stool microscopy
- stool for ova and parasite
- stool culture
- in some cases, a blood test to check for gluten intolerance is needed
- colonoscopy may be indicated if the above tests do not give enough information

I hope this is helpful and answers your questions. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
