Suggest Treatment For Difficulty Concentration Along With Depression And Mood Swings

Hello sir
I am writing this to consult about the mood change and depressive tendency shown by my son. He is a bright student but as the examination is overhead about two months away he is unable to concentrate and speaks of meaningless of life and speaks of suicide very often. Is it a case of bipolar disorder or depressions. Our family doctor has prescribed oleanz 2.5 at the bed time. Please advise and help me to come out of the crisis.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Oleanz is an antipsychotic medication. It is used to treat bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, psychosis.

It would help him if he has any of these conditions. If he has depression, however then it is not likely to be helpful.

There are certain criteria for the diagnosis of any of these conditions. It may be best that he sees a psychiatrist or psychologist to make sure that the correct diagnosis and treatment is started.

I hope this helps
