Suggest Treatment For Difficulty In Sleeping

I am having trouble falling asleep most nights. I usually try to lay on my back. However, when I do, my left arm has a tendency to either fall asleep or hurt. Sometimes sleeping on my side makes it better and usually I have to fall asleep with my arm across my stomach. I am admittedly overweight. I am about 290lbs, 5ft 11 and 32 years old. I also have sleep apnea and do sleep with a CPAP. Some nights are not so bad as others with regards to this issue, but when it happens, it is very difficult to fall asleep. I have been having this happen for about a year. I did go to a Family Physician who had me get nerve testing done on my arm and an xray, both of which showed nothing. I generally feel the discomfort in my elbow and thought it might have been initially caused by an arm hyperextension that happened about 3 years ago that may have caused permanent nerve damage. However, as the xray and nerve test showed nothing and occasionally I get the discomfort in my bicep or shoulder, I do not think that was the case.

Hi Sir/Madam
Welcome to Health Care Magic

I can certainly understand your concern towards your discomfort of left arm during sleep, as this could be due to the compression of your left ulnar nerve due to fat or malposition during sleep, and please mention is there any numbness or tingling ? And how long it persists? This would give better idea

You said that nerve compression test is normal, I can make out that your weight is crossing the average limit, so I can advise you to reduce your weight by regular exercise as this may give some relief, and you can use hand bands to get relief

Post your further questions if any
Thank you

Post your further questions if any, I will available to take up your follow up questions
