Suggest Treatment For Diverticulosis Despite Taking Medication

I have been diagnosed with diverticulosis and was prescribed ciprofloxacin 500 mg and metronidazole 500mg I have taken them for three days and I still have a lot of pain. I have stopped the metronidazole because it really bothered me. Should I see you doctortomorrowor give it a couple of more days?

Hello dear
Understand your concern.
You should continue the treatment provide by doctor.
I will take time to get better.
Do not stop the medicine , it require long term treatment.

Advice is below:

Following are the diet advice.
Initially when you diagnosed, you should take liquid diet like
1. Broth
2. Fruit juice without pulp: apple, water melon
3. Ice pops
4. Gelatin containing fast
5. Tea and coffee without cream

After you feeling well start low fiber diet like,
1. Cooked food without skin and seeds
2. cooked potato
3. Egg, poultry
4. Refined white bread
5. Milk, yogourt
6. Well cooked white rice.

Avoid following diet, that difficult to digest like,
Nuts
Corn
Popcorn
All this stuck in pouch and produce inflammation.
High fiber diet
Drink plenty of waters
Regular exercise.
