Suggest Treatment For Dizziness And Blocked Ears

Someone said they can smell acetone on my breath about 2 years ago. Then it went away and has come back again. I also get dizzy sometimes if I move my head too fast, and I m tired. Could this be diabetes or can there be another explanation for it? I also have very blocked ears that have been this way for as long as I can remember.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted your symptom complex of foetor 2 years ago like others felt it like smell of acetone, blocked ears, fatigue, dizziness sometimes on moving head too fast.
The most probable causes are as follows:
Blocked ears may be due to wax in ears, chronic fluid in middle ear with inflammation spreading to the inner ear to semicircular canals which help stabilize the body.
This gives dizziness.
Problem with the nerve of ear.
Cervical spondilitis.
Hypertension.
cerebellar problems.
All this can be diagnosed by a clinical evalaution by an ENT and Neurologist.
CT or MRI of the mastoids helps a lot.
Audiometry for blockage.
The treatment will obviously be on the lines of findings.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, ENT & General Surgeon
