General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Numbness is usually related to nerves that supply a particular area. The nerves that supply the hand would originate in the neck region and pass through the shoulder.

Imaging in these areas by X-ray would be the first step to find the cause.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
