Suggest Treatment For Dizziness In An Elderly Person

My husband is 79 nearly 80 years old. He has felt slightly dizzy several times today. Each time his heart rate has been up. This time it is 146. His blood pressure 154 over 72. He worked in his shop in the basement today. He has a history of arterial fibrillation but does not have any symptoms at this time.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Atrial fibrillation can cause dizziness because the irregular high pulse rate can affect the blood supply to the brain but if he does not think that this is the cause, then another would need to be found.

The other common causes of dizziness may include conditions related to the inner ear: (1) benign paroxysmal positional vertigo- this would cause episodses of vertigo that seem to be worse with certain positions of the head.
Lasting a few minutes.

(2)meniere's disease- may be associated with abnormal noises such as ringing in the ears, may also be associated with hearing loss

(3)vestibular neuronitis- episodes last for hours, this is the most common of these three

Other causes such as dehydration, side effect of medication , acute infection

If the symptoms continue, he would need to be seen by his doctor for an assessment.

I hope this helps
