Suggest Treatment For Dizziness In An Epileptic Patient

Hi, I m epileptic, I thought I didn t take my epilim this morning (1000mg), so took some at work, but now think I may have double dosed as I m not feeling well, dizzy and hot mostly. Is this an issue? Or will it just wear off? What do I do tonight, I would normally take another (1000mg) + keppra, do I just take the keppra?

Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern. Epilim is Sodium Valproate and the drug is a broad spectrum anti-seizure drug. As per guidelines if patients forgets to take dose of drug then he/she can take the dose when ever he/she becomes aware about not taking the drug. Similarly if by mistake double doses are taken then he should continue to take the drug as per his normal schedule and shouldn't miss the normal schedule. So keep these things in mind and you should continue to take the drugs as per your normal schedule. If you are having dizziness and feelings of unwell due to double dosing then wait for some time to see improvement and if symptoms persist then visit your doctor. Take plenty of water and some times drugs like Betahistine can help to reduce the dizziness.

Thanks, Hope this helps you. Take care.
