Suggest Treatment For Dizziness, Tiredness, Overweight And Type 2 Diabetes

I am a 63-year old overweight woman, with Type 2 diabetes and mitral valve prolapse (no issues with that at my last cardiac checkup 6 months ago.) I am under a lot of stress at work, and have been working 12+ hour days for a few weeks. Right now I am slightly dizzy and not thinking too clearly, but not really feeling any other systems. Do you think this is cause for alarm? I could just be tired and not well hydrated. Thanks.

Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, dizziness with dehydration with history of diabetes isn't good sign and should be worked up properly. Sometimes autonomic neuropathy due to diabetes can cause such dizziness but metabolic derangements with serum electrolytes and arterial blood gases might be needed if dizziness increases. Thyroid profile to look for any relation to obesity and weakness should be done. Fresh cardiac evaluation for mitral valve gradient may also be needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Regards,
