Suggest Treatment For Dizzy Spells And Heaviness In Head

hi 2 weeks ago today i woke up feeling rather wied like my balance wasnt great heavy headed and a little dizzy later on well i was at work i had 2 glasses of water within in 10 mins i could barely stand room was spinning . ever since that day i felt not right havent had enough dizzy spell like that but my head feels heavy and when i turn my head i feel a little of balance .. i have been to the doctor and i was precribed Betahistine but this has not helped at all im getting really frustrated with it because i find it hard to explain the symptoms and its really effecting my work i have had a lot more fluids than normal ever since that day i dont know what to do

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have dizzy spells and heaviness in head which is caused by inflammation within the inner ear sometimes due to infection , meniere's disease , benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, acoustic neuroma , sinusitis and multiple sclerosis . Sometimes ear infection occur due to postnasal drip due to sinusitis . For now avoid bending foreword , take steam , drink ginger tea thrice a day and do light exercises daily. I suggest you to consult with ENT specialist for proper checkup so that there will not be any further complication , doctor may also refer you to neurologist for problem like migraine . Doctor may order certain test like CT scan , MRI , blood test , audiometery test , rotatory chair test and ECG to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe anti emetic drug , sedatives , antibiotics , decongestants ,drain sinus and some ear aid.
