Suggest Treatment For Drug Addiction

Hello Doctor, I am asking this question on behalf of my friend who is now addict to "Bhang" or "Cannabis". These days his reaction toward any situation is very agressive and act like insane. Red Eyes, fast heart beats, depression. are very common now a days. I would like to know, how can he get recovered from this and is there any medicine to get rid of this Bhang addiction. Also, does he need admission in rehab center?

Hi,

First of all, your friend needs to decide himself that he will quit bhang. Unless he is willing, he cannot be forced to quit by other people. There are some medicines that can help reduce his craving for cannabis but he will need to see a psychiatrist for detailed assessment. If there is some mental illness underlying the addiction, that will need separate treatment. He probably will not need admission, but the decision should be taken after discussion with his psychiatrist.

Best wishes.
