Suggest Treatment For Dry Cough And Asthma

I am a 55yr old female with a history of Nephrotic syndrome (on remission for the last 4 yrs). Recently, I have been experiencing bouts of sudden dry cough but without phlegm only lots of watery sputum. Sometimes it is so bad almost to the point of choking. I suffered from juvenile asthma & was severely allergic to dust. So not sure if the dust & pollution in Mumbai is causing this current condition. Pls advise. Thanks

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Cough with watery sputum could be due to irritation of airways causing allergic reaction. Since, you had juvenile asthma, it is quite possible that this is a recurrence of asthma after exposure to irritants. I suggest you to consult a pulmonologist for clinical assessment. Medication may be required to control the symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
