My aunt who is 66 years of age, had recently been diagnosed with an enlarged left supra clavicular lymphnode, and then had an excision biopsy done, which states Non necrotizing granulomatous lymphadenitis . It also states there is no malignancy, however, multinucleated giant cells are seen. She also underwent CT scan of the thorax and abdomen, which is normal. The CT scan of the thorax reveals Acute lower respiratory tract infection with chronic bronchitis. Her total TSH, serum test revealed that she had high thyroid levels (5.370), and high triglycerides level (194), and has fatty liver. She had no problems other than a dry cough, which is there for almost 6 months now. Her PFT test revealed that she has mild COPD, and has put her on inhaler twice a day. The doctor who ordered her biopsy is not convinced with the report, and wants to go for another round of diagnosis with the slide, especially because of the size of the lymphnode which is 1.4 cm. Please let me know if it is something serious, as she does not have any symptoms, and her tests do not reveal any malignancy.
