Suggest Treatment For Dry Cracked Hands

My hands are dry and cracking below the surface of the skin particularly in the creases in the palm and at the joints. The spaces between my fingers where they join at the palm are also dry and cracking. The skin of the palm is red below the surface as well. I have been taking Prednisone for three weeks on a graduated schedule with some success, but the cracking has increased since beginning the medicine. I hope this is a sign of cleaning out what may be causing this.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello, from what you have described , it appears that you have chronic hand eczema, the cause in your case appears exogenous which may be detergents, cleansers, fruit juices, other chemicals etc.
The treatment comprises of protecting your hands by wearing gloves before undertaking such activities, washing your hands with bland soap like dove, apply emollients like parasoft/moisturex soft cream liberally on your palms, take an antihistamine like tab Cetrizine 10 mg at bedtime for 7 days, apply momate cream twice daily on the lesions for 2 weeks.
I wouldnot not have adv short course of oral steroids currently.
Thanks
Take care.
