Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, My daughter is 10 yrs old. She has dry skin problem and it flares up during winter. Tried Dove soap, but it hasn t been much of help in preventing dryness of arms and legs. Can a medicated soap like Dermadew lite be used on her face regularly? If not, can you please suggest a soap for daily use?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Dryness of skin is accentuated or increased by using soaps. So, in order to prevent dryness, very light soaps or cleansers should be used. Washing of face should be followed by application of moisturizers. Frequency of application of moisturizers should be increased. If dryness is experienced all over the body, body oils can be used. If the dryness persists through out the year and accompanied by rash or vesicles; chances of primary skin disease may be there. In that case, I suggest you to consult a dermatologist.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
