Suggest Treatment For Dry Skin While Having Type 2 Diabetes

I am a senior type 2 diabetic, and know that dry skin is a problem. However I have tried all creams for diabetics and find no relief for this: the palms of my hands are not just dry, deep lines have formed down the finger pads , and the palm looks like I have cut the skin in fine lines that have a whitish look. the top of my hands do not have this. No cream or lotion heals the palms now, I have tried everything. This is new for my palms, even though I have had dry skin for years. I would like to know if it is time to see a dermatologist or a different type of doctor? I do not want my name or information listed on this website. Thank you.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Yes, it would be best to see a dermatologist at this stage.

There are emollients (creams to help with moisture) that require a prescription that a dermatologist can prescribe for you to use to help with the dryness.
In addition to the emollient, he or she would be able to determine if there is any underlying cause that also requires treatment.

I hope this helps
