Suggest Treatment For Ear Ache And Headache

Hi, I have been told by the doctor that I have catargh in my right ear. After swimming I get a dull ache in my ear and a dull headache. The doctor has said the catargh will take time to break up and I should try holding my nose to pop my ears. Is there anything else I can do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Catarrh is a build-up of mucus in an airway or cavity of the body. I would suggest the following to relieve your symptoms such as:
* Take sips of cold water when you feel the need your throat
* Use a saline/salt nasal rinse several times a day
* Avoid warm, dry atmospheres, such as places with air conditioners
* You may also use nasal decongestants or antihistamine tablets available over the counter

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
