Suggest Treatment For Ear Infection Despite Taking Amoxicillin

Hi a have 14 or old with spiking blood presure, chest tightness, coughing a little bit of blood and mches, dizziness and massive headaches, ear infection in both ears, her blood pressure was 150/130, she has been on amoxicillen for 3 days for ear infection. But nothing is working. We have been to the Er 4 times and they won t take chest x-rays I am very frustrated pleas help

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

If you are having pain and discharge from the ear, then you need to consult an ENT surgeon. At first, you should be examined under microscopy. A swab need to be taken from the ear and sent for culture and sensitivity. Start taking Tablet Augmentin instead of Amoxicillin. Start anti-allergic tablet Levocetrizine. Give Ciprofloxacin ear drops to the ear. Don't put water in the ear. Plug the ear with cotton and Vaseline during bathing.
