Suggest Treatment For Ear Pain And Unable To Hear

Hey, I'm 15, I haven't been able to hear properly out of my left ear for a few weeks now, i went to the doctors and they gave me antibiotics and i finished the complete course a few weeks ago. my hearing still hasn't returned and i keep getting headaches and pain in my ear due to this. i have had problems with ear infections in the past and have had burst eardrums before.. i sometimes think i have tinnitus as i have like a ringing/whistling sound and sometimes a low hum in my ear.. i am getting rather concerned now and was wondering if you could help me. Welcome in H.C.M.

I have gone through your query regarding pain in ear with hearing loss in your left ear. Though you had consulted your doctor and as per doctor's advice taking antibiotic but your problem is still persisting. As you said that previously you were having perforation in ear drum but what is the situation now is not clear.

As per your symptoms the possibilities of disease in your case are-

1- Impacted wax.

2- Otitis externa (otomycosis).

3- CSOM with ACUTE EXACERBATION.

4- CSOM with MASTIODITIS.

For diagnosis examination of ear is must and some basic investigations like C.T.Scan of ear (HRCT), and audiometric testing are also having important place in diagnosis. These all may be possible after you consult your ENT doctor, so my advice is to please consult your doctor for diagnosis and treatment of ear ache and loss of hearing and to avoid further complications.
