General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

The pack is kept to keep the new eardrum in place.
Since there is a dissection of skin, the occurrence of hematoma or seroma and possible infection the pain is expected to be present.

A proper antibiotic cover with anti-inflammatory medications with painkiller properties can help with her symptoms.
Bed rest can heal the pains and wounds better.
Give her liquid diet so that she can cope with the inability to eat properly.
Rest in propped up position can help.
Not to blow nose at all.
And all the medications and precautions to be followed as advised by the operating Surgeon.
Give her reassurance.

I hope this answer helps you. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant, ENT & General Surgeon
