Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 23 year old son, a 6 year heroin user developed endocarditis a year ago, had major vegetation removed from his heart valve and was told that he might have lesions on his brain. He has seemed to be better over the past year, but about a month ago started exhibiting strange behavior. He is having delusions that the government is controlling his brain and experiment on him with electromagnetic waves. He is hyper aware and paranoid about everyone around him being part of it, but thinks they are testing him . His behavior seems very much like paranoid schizophrenia, but am trying to determine if this could be caused by potential lesions on his brain from the endocarditis or that he has severe mental issues, whether from years of drug abuse or not. He swears he is not using any drugs at all for the first time in years and that he feels stronger than ever.
