General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The condition is related to bladder outflow obstruction via prostate enlargement. The symptomatic management of Benign prostate enlargement includes alpha 1 blockers such as Terazosin or others. The volume of prostate reduces with use of Finasteride (5 alpha reductase inhibitors) over a period of 4-6 months.

Depending upon the symptomatic improvement, consultant decides the continuation of medications or dose changes. If there is continuous symptoms despite of medications, surgery with TURP or laser surgery is best way to remove the obstructive lobes of prostate with immediate results.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
