General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello there Mitchell,
Depending on the size of your prostate we classify it into grades-I,II,III,IV. For stage 1 we prescribe pills. Stage II and beyond we decide to use minimally invasive surgery(TURP) to Remove areas of the prostate that are obstructing the urine flow. It is a very safe surgery and we obtain good results and the patient has a lot of relief. In Stage 4 we may plan to remove the entire gland as the chance of recurrence is very high of we do TURP and we do not want to bother you for repeated surgeries.

In each of the cases it is a very well managed condition and you should not be worried. It happens to almost all men and this is one of the most commonly treated and rectifiable conditions.

Hope this helps,
Please get back to me with any further queries that you may have, I would gladly answer them.
