Multiaxial CT images of the neck were performed from skull base to thoracic inlet after administration of intravenous contrast. History: Neck mass. Swelling in the region of the thyroid gland with trouble swallowing. The visualized brain parenchyma is unremarkable. Bilateral parotid submandibular and sublingual salivary glands are unremarkable. The thyroid gland is enlarged. The right lobe of thyroid measures 4.8 cm and the left lobe of the thyroid measures 5.7 cm in maximum dimension. However there is no evidence for discrete nodules at the thyroid gland. Low right paratracheal lymph node of 1.2 x 0.9 cm is identified. The visualized lung apices are clear. The nasal septum is minimally deviated to the right side. Visualized paranasal air sinuses and mastoid air cells are clear. The osseous structures are unremarkable. IMPRESSION: Enlarged thyroid gland is noted with no discrete nodules. No significant cervical lymphadenopathy is noted.
