Suggest Treatment For Enlarged Tonsils And Nasal Swelling

My son has had inlarged tonsils for the past few weeks following a suspected case of strep. He has no pain but his Pedi has told me he has some nasal swelling and that his tonsils are inlarged. He has me giving him Claratin and using a salin nasal spray on him. He has been sleeping poorly and is having periods od apnea when he sleeps. Today, when looking at his throat, I noticed many vein s on his tonsils that I had not noticed before. My questions is, are these veins normal? I do not notice them on my own tonsils.
