Suggest Treatment For Esophagus Pain And Breathing Difficulty

yesterday I burned my esophagus when swallowing a piece of a hot potato too quickly, I felt an insane pain at first and went away after I drink a cold glass of water. this morning I woke up with the same pain and it s difficult to breathe and swallow (solid foods are the hardest) if I gently touch my throat I feel a harsh pain. What can I do?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is due to minor mucosal irritation caused by swallowing hot potato. You can take gelusil or related antacid syrup for symptomatic relief as it contain local anaesthetic and give pain relief. Drink plenty of water. Nothing much to worry and you will be fine in couple of days.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
