Suggest Treatment For Excessive Diarrhea And Vomiting

Iv only been able to eat toast for the last 4 days 4 slices to be exact. Ive drank 2 bottles of water and some Gatorade as well as a few sips of ginger ale. But the trots wont go away. No fever only stomach pain from all the bathroom visits. But the color is light tan almost frothy. Is there anything over the counter i can take or eat. Im between insurance for a few weeks and of course this happens.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The most common causes are bacterial or viral infection.

The treatment mainly involves fluid replacement . It is important to replace the fluid loss by the diarrhea and also to give the body the fluid it normally needs to work. You may need to increase the gatorade since it would be giving you back both water and the electrolytes that you are losing.

Probiotics , either on their own or in yogurt, would also be helpful.

Medications such as peptobismol or lomotil may also help to slow down the diarrhea.

I hope this helps
