Suggest Treatment For Excessive Memory Loss

I am only 42 years old and am forgetting things a lot. I know it is normal to forget but I m forgetting enough that it is noticeable. Many times I have a hard time saying words as well. I know what I want to say but can t think of the word. If I don t write things down then I dont remember. My husband even notices as well.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, excess memory loss at the age of 42 years does not sound to be normal at all. There must be underlying significant pathology in terms of:
- Neurodegeneration
- Early onset Alzeihmer disease
- Deficiency of certain neurotransmitters
- Necrosis or destruction of hippocampus region of brain
- Certain tumors
- Ventricular diseases with altered cerebrospinal fluid pressures
- Others

In my clinic, after thorough clinical and neurological examination, I prefer to undergo an MRI brain for further assistance and guidelines.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
