Allyson Ally is a 56 year-old corporate executive who identifies as female, though her assigned gender Ally comes to treatment for evaluation of symptoms that she reports has been experiencing for her entire life. She states that she often feels empty and that she has no purpose in life. She reports that she is very successful at work, though this brings little satisfaction- she says that she keeps doing it because its the only place in her life she gets rewarded and her work comes easily to her. She does report that she has been hospitalized several times throughout her life when things become too stressful; however, She reports she becomes highly distressed and doesn t exactly want to die, but has a lot of trouble being able to say she will stay alive. She often spends between 3-6 days in the hospital and then returns to work as if nothing had happened. She also reports that she struggles with anger in her relationships. She reports that she often fights vigorously with her family, but describes that as justified. Ally reports that she struggles the most with her friends and romantic partners. She reports that people aren t trustworthy and they always do something to prove that they will leave, therefore they can t be trusted. She reports that all of her romantic partners start of perfect and then something happens and the relationship is over. Most of the time it is because she broke it off suddenly. She reports that she may have stopped the relationship too early, but they probably would leave any ways at some point. She reports that she has given up on romantic relationships at this point., she reports that she has struggled with depression, though it seems like they last for days but then she is able to get herself out of the funks. That said, when she is sad she reports that she isn t just sad, but despondent. She reports that she sometimes drinks. she reported that she will go on benders for two days at a time and spend the entire weekend drinking. However, she reports that this only happens when she feels really lonely and just doesn t want to sleep alone anymore. She says she could never do that without alcohol. She reports that she feels intense guilt and shame around this behavior because once she starts she can t get herself to stop it. back to her friends, she stated that most of the time she struggles in her friendships because she often lashes out at them. She also described herself as very emotionally sensitive.
