Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am suffering with eye floaters. I had floater on left eye for past 5 months, recently seen on right eye also. visited eye doctor twice once in jan month and another in april month. doctor says all fine . floaters are normal and many people have it. he asked me to ignore the floaters. i am not comfotable at all with his answers
Eye floaters are usually caused due to normal age related degenerative process in the eye. In most of the cases they are benign and the person having it usually adapts to ignore them with passage of time. If there is sudden increase in the quantity of eye floaters noticed or it is associated with other symptoms such as loss of peripheral vision or flashes of light then I would suggest you consult your local ophthalmologist for proper eye evaluation after dilating the eye if required and further management accordingly. If there are no associated symptoms and doctor declares them benign in nature after examination then there is no need to worry.
I hope this answers your question. Please feel free to contact HCM again if you have any concerns. Wishing you good heath.
