Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic

I can understand you concern and frustration over acne. Acne is the commonest skin problem in young but it behaves in a differently in different individuals. While some may have mild acne only occasionally others may have severe or moderately severe acne, that can erupt continuously, one after the other. Genetics has a role to play (where one of the parents have acne, children can have it too and where both parents have acne then children most likely will have them too).

In females hormones may be the underlying cause, more of male hormones in the blood could be the reason for resistant acne.

I would suggest that you visit a dermatologist and get a proper assessment of you problem and the most suitable treatment for it.

Topical treatment can be in the form of Topical Antibacterials like Benzoyl peroxide gel/Clindamycin gel and Topical Retinoids e.g Adapalene gel.

Oral antibiotics work well for inflammatory acne and bring about rapid control. These can be doxycycline or azithromycin or minocycline.

Finally oral retinoids are the best antiacne medications for severe acne or acne unresponsive to traditional antiacne medications.

Hormonal treatment might be a better option for those females with underlying hormonal problems as suggested by irregular menses, hirsutism, polycystic ovaries on ultrasound etc.

regards
