Suggest Treatment For Facial Numbness And Slurred Speach

H, my name is Susan, there have been a few times that I have had the right side of myface go numb, slightly droop, and during this time my speech is off , almost slurred. It reminds me of when you sit with your hand in your hair and it goes numb... that s how my face feels when this happens. It hasn t happened in just over a year. A friend I know is a nurse and witnessed this occur, ( my eye even droops slightly), and asked what was going on. Itold her and she said it sounded like Bells Parsy. I don t have a Dr., so I was wanting to ask your opinion. And what causes this to happen. My email is, YYYY@YYYY

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

As per your query you have symptoms of facial numbness and slurred speech along with drooping of eye which seems to be probably due to bell's palsy i.e a condition when temporary weakness occurs on one side of face.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult oral physician/ neurologist for proper diagnosis and rule out condition like trigeminal neuroptahy. Doctor will examine you completely and may conduct various test to confirm diagnosis and may prescribe muscle relaxant. You should do mouth stretching exercises such as blow in and bow out. Doctor may also recommend physical therapy.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
