Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
On 10/24 I had my hip scoped. had problem with frequent trips to the bathroom before surgery but was able to make it to the bathroom. since my surgery I cant even make it an half an hour with sudden urge to go and cant even get up off the couch with out having an accident. I have stopped the Percocet and have the constipation taken care off. I can deal with being tied down and on crutches ten times more then changing cloths when I am not suppose to bend my leg more than 70 degrees. I see my surgeon 11/8 but I am getting very discouraged. thank, Renata
I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Leakage of stool can be suggestive of fecal incontinence.Fecal incontinence causes stool and other fecal matter to leak from your rectal canal. It can range from occasional leakage while passing gas to a complete loss of bowel control. So initially I would suggest you go for a digital rectal examination by a surgeon. Most commonly at your age nerve damage is an important cause of fecal incontinence.
For the time being, anti-diarrheal drugs such as loperamide (Imodium) and diphenoxylate and atropine sulfate (Lomotil) along with bulk-forming agents like Metamucil can be taken to provide symptomatic relief however they may cause constipation which can further worsen the problem of hemorrhoid.
So initially would suggest you visit a general surgeon and get your rectal canal investigated.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
