Suggest Treatment For Falling Off Of Tooth Filling

tooth # 27..filling has come out after 11 mo. Dr. asks if I want a inlay or root canal? inlay is $788.00 NOT covered by insur. I think some of a root canal is...will have to call and check. Which is the better option?? Do inlays come out like fillings? after 11 mo.? Perhaps then the root canal would be the better choice...your opinion please....if it matters..I'm 56 yrs.old. thank you

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain in case if you have a dislodged filling and the nerves are not exposed you can even go for the re-filling of the tooth and you do not require inlay or root canal treatment..

Inlay can also be done as an alternate to filling in case if the cavity is too extensive that the filling will compromise the structural integrity as well as better contact of the tooth with opposing arch tooth..
An inlay provides better fit and better marginal contact with the natural tooth structure..

A root canal treatment is done in case if the nerves are exposed due to infection or accidentally during making of the cavity which can cause irritation of nerves and pain..

As in your case if you do not want an inlay done you can get a root canal treatment done followed by capping of the tooth as permanent cure..

Hope this information helps..
