Suggest Treatment For Fatigue And Dark Circles Under Eyes

My daughter age 26 is typically very healthy, works out everyday, eats an exceptionally healthy diet, She s gotten a little run down in the past few weeks due to work demands. We live 4 hours apart and I visited her for Easter. I noticed she had dark circles, was quite slender so she s gotten to her perfect pretty weight, but she was more fatigued then usual. I thought I saw a golden tinge to her face. Well she eats lots of carrots she says...it seemed to diminish away over the weekend but last night before I left we were surprised to see the palms of her hands were a very golden yellow color. An adult close friend noticed a yellow to her skin 2 weeks ago and searched online for answers, he was very concerned. She said she s been having digestive problems and got some psyllium which is helping. What could this be caused by? Her eyes are clear white and the rest of her skin looks ok. I cautioned her to rest, stop the hard workouts and make an appointment with her doctor. She also has missed her period for 5 months so she s going to the OBGYB too this week.

Hi,

The combination of fatigue, dark circles under the eyes, and a yellowish tint to the skin and palms of the hands can be concerning for several potential underlying conditions. Your daughter needs to see a healthcare provider to get a proper diagnosis and treatment plan.

One possible cause of these symptoms is anemia, which can result from a deficiency in iron, vitamin B12, or folate. Anemia can cause fatigue and dark circles under the eyes, and a deficiency in vitamin B12 can also cause a yellowish tint to the skin. Another potential cause is liver dysfunction, which can cause yellowing of the skin and eyes (jaundice) and fatigue.

Digestive problems can also be related to these symptoms, as malabsorption or inflammation in the gut can affect nutrient absorption and lead to deficiencies that can cause fatigue and other symptoms. It's important to rule out any potential gastrointestinal issues. Regarding the missed periods, your daughter needs to see her OBGYN as soon as possible. Missed periods can be a sign of hormonal imbalances or other gynecological issues that can affect overall health.

As for the use of psyllium, it's important to be cautious with over-the-counter supplements as they can interact with other medications or cause adverse reactions in some people, hence, discuss this with the healthcare provider. In terms of treatment, it will depend on the underlying cause of the symptoms. Treatment may involve dietary changes, supplementation, medications, or lifestyle modifications.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
