Suggest Treatment For Fatigue And Muscle Pain

my 23 y/o daughter has been lehtargic for several weeks (about 4) She started with what seemed to be sinuswas put on clindamycin. this did not help and she was put on clarithromycin and oral steroids. this did not help either. She has been very tired, muscle pain and went back today to the MD who drew blood for thyroid and something else (?). they put her on Avalox but it was $140 after her insurance. She can not afford it and did not get it. Thoughts? She is 5 4 about 98lbs.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and thanks for your query. It sounds like she may have mononucleosis. There is a test for that called a monospot that can often be done in the doctor's office. Whenever a person is having a lot of fatigue with upper respiratory symptoms it is good to check for mononucleosis. It is good that they are testing her thyroid and they also need to rule out anemia. Make sure she is drinking plenty of water, eating a healthy diet and getting at least 8 hours of sleep. Adding a multivitamin daily may also be helpful.
