Suggest Treatment For Fatigue And Pain In Throat

Hi: I have been severely fatigued for the past two weeks to the point of almost no function. The skin on my tongue and the roof of my mouth looks like I burned my tongue and mouth. It s s very painful. My throat hurts to swallow. I am 49 years old and I know usually older adults do not get mono. I can barely eat I have no appetite. Any suggestions?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have burning sensation in mouth along with extreme fatigue and pain in throat . The symptoms you mention in query are pointing towards a condition known as burning mouth syndrome . In this condition discomfort may affect your tongue, gums, lips, inside of your cheeks, roof of your mouth or widespread areas of your whole mouth. There can be many reasons for this like xerostomia , nutritional deficiency , allergy and GERD ( gastrointestinal reflux disease ) . It seems to me that in your case the probable reason is acid reflux , which is responsible for throat pain and burning mouth . I would suggest you to consult oral pathologist for proper diagnosis . Doctor may order blood test , oral biopsy , saliva measurement and allergy test to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor will treat you as per result of diagnosis or may refer you to gastroenterologist . For now avoid carbonated drinks , spicy food , alcohol and acidic foods .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
