Suggest Treatment For Fatigue And Panic Attacks While On Fluoxetine Capsules

Hi..my 18 year old daughter has been on 20 mg of fluoxetine for a couple of years and has been doing well...however...this last refill..the pharmacy gave her capsules instead of tablets...she s been struggling with sever anxiety/panic attacks (which she d never experienced before) as well as constant fatigue...do you think this is related to the different form of the medication. thanks

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

While capsules should have the same effectiveness as tablets, if she has noticed such a significant change, I think it would be reasonable to try going back to the tablets just to make sure that isn't the reason.

If she continues to have problems after that, she may need to change the dose or the medication to help better control her symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
