Suggest Treatment For Fatty Liver Problems In A Teenager

My daughter is 15 years old. She is suffering in fatty liver problems. Her SGPT is 85 instead of 7-56 and SGOT is also higher than normal. Kindly advice us what steps should be taken by us so that she can get relief from this disease as early as possible. Rupa Mandal West Bengal, India

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Fatty liver can be controlled by following means.
1. Intake of diet with easily digestible carbohydrates, moderate quantity of proteins and least quantity of fats.
2. Regular intake of antioxidant medications like Vitamin E, Selenium, Vitamin C and foods which are rich in these elements.
3. Intake of fresh fruit juices and keeping well hydrated.
4. Monitoring of response to treatment regularly by ultrasound examination.
5. Loosing weight and maintaining it as per norms by means of regular exercise would also help.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
