Suggest Treatment For Fever And Diarrhea In Children

Normally active Seven year old boy running fever 99-100 off and on for past two days. Yesterday came down with sudden case of diarreha and woke up today with leg pain/weakeness. Unable to hold up his own weight at times. Treated with Ibprophen and plenty of liquids. Gatorade, water, banana. Feeling somewhat better this afternoon. eating normal but still unable to sustain his own weight at times.

It seems like your son having stomach infection due to food poisoning. This infection could be due to either Virus or bacteria , but looking at his case I think it's due to bacterial infection.

A test called Stool Routine and Stool Culture Sensitivity will tell us whether it is a Viral or bacterial infection. I advise you to get this test done and revert back to me with reports.

Weakness of legs occurs due to decrease in the potassium levels due to diarrhea so he needs to get Potassium supplements that too preferably Intravenous. So it would be better if you take him to hospital and get him admitted .
