Suggest Treatment For Fever And Nasal Congestion.

I have what I think is a head cold. My symptoms are: fever, nasal congestion, mucus in my throat and pressure in my neck and ears. I took a DayQuil/NightQuil yesterday and last night. it dry me out completely. I feel like the drugs are not helping. I am drinking alot of fluids my month an tongue are dry out. The amount of water that I have been drinking are not seeming to help. I have taken Tylenol for my fever. I changed to sudafed 12 hour. That dry me out too. I was hoping to draining by now. I have been congested since Wednesday. The medicine that I taking is not performing well. What is you recommendation?

Hi,

Noted your history of fever, dryness caused by DayQuil and NightQuil then Sudafed. Mouth and tongue dried out, excessive water intake is not helping.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Consult an ENT.
Stop taking any antihistamine and oral decongestant.
Fever indicates the need for blood tests and antibiotic if White cell count is higher than the upper limit.
You may please instill decongestant nasal drops.
Continue Tylenol round the clock.
Take rest.
Do not drink excessive fluids, does not help and on the contrary will increase your bathroom visit.
Take steam inhalation as this helps in congestion.
Further management as per the Doctor's advise.
