Suggest Treatment For Fever, Chills And Sore Throat

My 15 year old son was sick for several days with a fever, chills, and sore throat. He had a negative strep test. Although he is feeling much better now, and is eating and drinking normally again, he has been feeling dizzy and lightheaded and is concerned that his resting heart rate, which is usually near 80, is only about 60, even after running up and down the stairs. He tends to worry a lot, so I'd like to reassure him without brushing his concerns aside. Should I call our doctor?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

At this point , you do not need to speak to his doctor. The normal range for heart rate is 60 to 100 so this means that even if it is 60 beats per minute, it is still within normal range.

If the pulse goes out of the normal range or his dizziness continues then you can consider consulting his doctor.

I hope this helps

Hi
Thank you for asking HCM
I have gone through your query. The sore throat can be due to viral infection. The total body discomfort will last around 1 week in most viral infections. If blood pressure is low also can gives the symptoms you mentioned like increase heart rate. Give him more fluids. Giving warm chicken soup and lemon tea is good. If no improvement just get a physical examination by a physician and complete blood count and platelet count to rule out any thrombocytopenia. Hope this may help you.
Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
