Suggest Treatment For Fever, Chills And Vomiting In A Child
Hi, My 4 year old has fever, chills, sluggishness (from time to time), vomited twice in 12 hours, and urinated on himself after a nap. Tylenol helped to get fever down, gave him pedialite with apple juice throughout the day, ate a bowl of chicken noodle soup and an icecream cup. Is there anything else I could give him to help him? When should I start to panic?
His symptoms may be due to a viral illness, this is the most common cause.
Rest, fluids and tylenol , as you have been doing , should be continued. Fluids would be more important than any solid food at the moment because the body does not do well without fluids but he should be given in small quantities to reduce the chance of vomiting.
If diarrhea starts, then probiotics may also be beneficial.
If the fever is unresponsive to medication or his symptoms worsen considerably (dehydrated, excess drowsiness etc, pain), then he should be seen.
I hope this helps
