Suggest Treatment For Fever, Diarrhea And Throat Pain For A 6-year-old
Hi ! My child is 6 + yrs old and 19 kgs.He had high fever for 2 days followed by diarrhoea since 1 day + severe throat pain, diagnosed by ENT doctor as to be having throat ulcers was given omnacortil forte 7 ml OD ×3 days. After taking the 1st dose my child seems to be having increased sweating and restless while being asleep. Is anything to worry about and should I continue the medicines for the next 2 days ?
Omnacortil forte contains a steroid so it may cause some irritation in some patients and disturbed sleep. The restlessness may also be due to the pain he may have due to the mouth ulcers.
It is important that your child is kept well hydrated as mouth ulcers may prevent him from drinking, while diarrhea causes him to lose fluids. I would recommend him to take oral rehydration solutions (over the counter) and also eat frequent small amounts of food during the day. He should start to feel better within the next 3-4 days. If he is no better or you think he is getting any worse, he needs to see his doctor again.
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj General and Family Physician
