Suggest Treatment For Floaters In Eyes Post Laser Procedure

if a retinal tear is caught in time, can an opthomologist do a laser procedure or does one still have to be treated by an eye surgeon. Three months ago, I waited to long, vision going black, rushed 350 miles to surgeon. Now, today, other eye is full of floaters. Had cataract surgery, both eyes, 2 years ago. Thanks

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It seems from the history that you are having floaters.

Floaters are caused by vitreous degenerations and it is a benign condition and no treatment is required.

But all cases of floaters need to be evaluated by indirect ophthalmoscopy to rule out associated retinal conditions like a retinal tear or retinal thinning.

Yes, it is true that floaters may not go but they tend to decrease in severity with time.

If floaters are causing problems, they can be treated by laser treatment.

Hence I advise you to consult your ophthalmologist for examination and treatment accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
